Over the last year, major road works have made Arroyo de la Miel centre look a real eyesore. But now with the work nearing completion, the outcome is truly astounding. By reducing the width of Avenida Constitucion and Avenida Estacion from the Manferga roundabout to the train station, the footpaths have been widened and relaid. Similarly treated is Avenida Garcia Lorca from Manferga roundabout to the Mercadona roundabout. New flower gardens and palm trees have been planted and a new water feature has been added. In Plaza Espana or Fountain Square as it is also known, the original fountain which was removed many years ago has been replaced by a new one in the same style. Also a large mural with an accompanying water feature has been painted on one of the walls depicting the town in the 1950s. If you have visited Arroyo de la Miel before the work started, I think you will be truly amazed at the transformation. Thanks to Simon for the photos which were taken in January 2010.
