Marbella and Puerto Banus Mini Guide and Map
Mini Guides and Maps
Marbella
and Puerto Banus are probably the best known towns on the coastal strip
of the Costa del Sol, and are situated either end of the famous "golden
mile" of high class houses and hotels, where many of the rich and
famous have residences. Marbella is a modern town, but Parque de la
Alameda, Parque Arroyo de la Repres and the Bonsai Museum should not be
missed. Also a walk along the Paseo Maritiomo or promenade is highly
recommended. Marbella retains it's charm in the towns old quarter, with
the Plaza de los Naranjos a focal point. In the square can be found the
Iglesia de Santa Maria, a church dating back to 1618. Also found around
the square are the Renaissance fountain dating back to the 15th century
and the 16th centuary town hall. Puerto Banus is situated between
Marbella and San Pedro, and is well known for it's world famous marina
and expensive shops and restaurants. Sit and drink a cafe con leche at
one of the bars surrounding the marina and see how the other half live.
Multi million pound yachts tied up at the quay, many with security
guards patrolling their owners boats. Some take great exception to
having photo's taken, so beware. Luxury cars are everywhere, stretched
limos, Porsche's and Ferrari's are a common sight.
