Benalmadena
is a wonderful holiday resort for children of all ages. As well as the
fantastic weather which comes virtually guaranteed in summer, there are
many diverse places to visit in the town that are both adult and
children orientated. Below are the main “keep the kids happy” venues
that we recommend wholeheartedly.
Paloma Park
This is a beautiful landscaped park, free to enter and enjoyed by adults
and children of all ages. It contains a massive lake with water plume,
two small children’s play areas, three cafes, and peacocks, rabbits and
fowls running free. This park is like an oasis in the centre of the busy
resort, and is enjoyed by holidaymakers and residents alike. The lower
entrance is behind the Benal Beach complex. Video here.
Just
outside the west side of the park you will find Selwo Marina, which is a
well presented dolphin, penguin and sea lion display venue. The site
also contains a children’s play area.
The
Sealife Center is situated next to the Puerto Marina. Visitors can feed
the stingrays who will take the food from your fingers. There is also a
glass tunnel which you walk under while sharks swim overhead. A well
laid out Pirates Mini Golf is also part of the center.
Situated
in Arroyo de la Miel, the park contains rides for children of all ages
as well as live shows. Tivoli hosts a Bric-a-Brac Garden Market each
Sunday morning in the winter months, from 11am to 1pm. The entrance
price to the park on that day only is 1 euro, but you must buy your
ticket between the afore mentioned times. This entitles you to not only
visit the market but to stay in the park until closing time.
The new indoor swimming pool and ice rink has recently opened in Avenida Federico García Lorca. Urban bus line 2 stops nearby.
Boat / Ferry Trips
There
are many dolphin viewing boat trips from the Puerto Marina. There is
also a ferry that runs between Benalmadena Marina and Fuengirola Port. Costasol Cruises.
Next
to Tivoli World is the Teleferico Cable Car which takes you over 700
meters to the summit of Mount Calamorro. Journey time is about ten
minutes. From the summit you can see as far as the North African coast
on a clear day.
In nearby resorts:-
Well laid out zoo situated about 20 minutes walk from the train and bus stations in Fuengirola.
Next
to the Torremolinos Aqua Park is the well known Crocodile Park. With
over 300 crocodiles and 12 different species this attraction is well
worth a visit. Map here.
Whilst Benalmadena doesn’t have a water park of it’s own, two are within easy reach of the resort.
